Friday 2nd November saw our budding Birmingham bakers, dusting off their aprons to take part in The Great Integral Bake Off Competition. The premise was simple; bake whatever type of cake you choose and bring it in to be sampled by the randomly selected panel of judges, in a blind tasting.
Alongside the competition we also held a charity bake sale, with the less competitive among us donating homemade cupcakes, to be sold alongside the competition cakes , raising funds for Alzheimer’s UK.
There were nine impressive bake off entries to be judged by our panel of cake enthusiasts and the competition was stiff. All those who entered did themselves proud, putting in a great deal of time and effort to support our chosen charity.
After a lot of deliberation, the title of Master Baker went to Katie Nixon, with her colourful unicorn cake being voted the judges favourite and a highly deserved winner!
Second place went to Rhian Greenaway with her classic Victoria Sandwich, while Wendy Hearty came in third with her Chocolate and Vanilla cake.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and we would like to thank all those who donated cakes and generously supported the cake sale. The end result was a fantastic £303 raised for Alzheimer’s UK. Well done all and congratulations to our winning bakers!
