Bespoke refrigeration counters for Harrods Chocolate Hall

Celebrated department store Harrods, describes its food halls as ‘one of the world’s greatest food emporiums’. To maintain this reputation they have spent the last four years transforming the Roast & Bake, Dining, Fresh, and Chocolate Halls

As the incumbent service and maintenance refrigeration partner, we are proud to have played a role in all four of them, designing counters and chillers to keep everything from fresh pasta to patisserie, at optimum temperatures.

The challenge

As far back as five years ago, Integral Lokold were invited to attend the first Harrods Chocolate Hall Design Team review meeting with a view to completing the revamp in time to celebrate 150 years of in-house chocolate making.

As any chef knows, chocolate needs precise temperature handling. Our brief was to design, manufacture and install the bespoke refrigeration counters to exacting engineering specifications meeting high end retail requirements, while sympathetically complementing David Collins Studio’s overall design layout for the new Chocolate Hall.

The hand-made cabinets we designed and installed incorporate the latest in electronic management for the preservation and display of chocolate, as well as iconic handmade details.

Results

Now open to the public, the stunning and much-anticipated Chocolate Hall offers visitors the spectacle of the Harrods Chocolaterie where chocolates are crafted live on site, as well as collections from other leading world-class chocolatiers, allowing them to indulge in best-in-class chocolate – from bonbons to filled bars.

It has been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to work on this fantastic project which has surpassed client expectations.
